Longmead Capital engaged UBDS Digital to establish a controlled, measurable and repeatable approach to adopting Claude across appropriate business processes. The engagement was designed to move beyond ad hoc AI experimentation by creating a structured way to identify valuable use cases, test them against real business scenarios and introduce successful applications into controlled production use.
UBDS Digital developed a five-stage adoption method, Select, Assess, Pilot, Introduce and Review, giving Longmead Capital a practical framework for adopting Claude while maintaining appropriate business ownership, human oversight, security and governance.
Longmead Capital identified opportunities for Claude across information-intensive activities, including investment research, asset and portfolio reporting, deal and document review, knowledge access and internal operations. However, the suitability, value and risk of AI vary significantly between processes.
The challenge was to determine where Claude could create genuine business value and how it could be adopted safely. Each potential use needed to be assessed against process maturity, information quality, business rules, system access, security, human review requirements, expected value and cost. Higher-impact activities also needed to retain qualified human judgement and clear approval controls.
UBDS Digital created a structured Claude adoption and implementation approach built around five stages: Select, Assess, Pilot, Introduce and Review. Candidate use cases are assessed individually and placed on a Now / Next / Later roadmap, enabling Longmead Capital to prioritise opportunities with clear business outcomes, suitable information and accountable owners.
Selected use cases are then tested using representative examples from day-to-day work. UBDS Digital supports the configuration of dedicated Claude Projects, approved information sources, project instructions, user guidance and measurable acceptance criteria. Testing captures quality, time, effort, rework, risk, usage and cost. Any deficiencies are addressed and affected scenarios retested before progressing.
The approach starts with lower-risk applications where Claude prepares information or recommends options, while Longmead Capital remains responsible for validating evidence and making decisions. More autonomous uses are only considered when the necessary rules, evidence, permissions and recovery arrangements are in place.
The engagement is designed to give Longmead Capital an evidence-based operating model for Claude adoption, rather than treating AI as a one-off implementation.
Through controlled pilots, defined ownership, approved information sources, human review and measurable success criteria, Longmead Capital will be able to determine which applications of Claude should continue, improve, expand, combine or be retired.
The result will be a repeatable framework that allows Longmead Capital to expand its use of Claude based on demonstrated business value and appropriate controls. The adoption roadmap will also support future decisions about use cases, users, integrations and levels of automation.
